Guide
To Selecting Your Wheel
Ceramic grit wheels are a mixture
of
aluminum oxide and ceramic grit. Usually, the
percentage of ceramic grit will be in the 10-30% range.
These wheels are recommended for all high speed steels and some
tool steels where long life, cool grind and aggressive stock
removal are important factors over the cost of the wheel itself.
Sometimes the longer life of the ceramic wheel can offset the
higher initial cost. In most cases, the wheels are chosen
for their unique ability to grind cool on heavy stock removal
appplications.
Grit size of 60/80 is generally
considered to be medium size which will produce a good finish
and aggressive cutting action. 46 grit is slightly more
aggressive for faster stock removal.
Most of our wheels offered here
are 'H', 'I' or 'J' grade hardness which is medium and is
suitable for 90% of applications.
If you need other grit sizes,
hardnesses, shapes etc., please contact us as we only offer a
