By far the most popular grit for tool room surface grinding and tool & cutter grinders. Smaller wheels can also be used on bench & pedestal grinders. Primarily used to grind a wide variety of steels, it works very well on hardened steels and tool steels (Rockwell 'C' >45). Less friable than white, use where a slightly more aggressive wheel is needed. Best results will be achieved with coolant. Vitrified bond. Medium hardness (H, I, J or K letter grade) is suitable for most applications.
